The
following system components provide an overview of the Advanced
AMR Energy Information and Control System (EICS), AAT 8856 wireless concentrator,
and Meter Interface Units (MIU's) available for AMR and energy management.
AAT 8800 Energy Information
and Control System (EICS)
A Linux-based server which provides
network management functions for the entire family of Advanced AMR
products. It manages the wireless data network and collects meter
data for remote analysis, charting and management of energy information. The
EICS also contains a MySQL database supporting a number of specially
designed energy management software solutions.

Wireless Concentrators
AAT 8856 Wireless Concentrators
collect data from geographically distributed remote monitors and converts it to TCP/IP for transmission over the internet to the EICS platform.
Meter Interface Units (MIUs)
These
units support a wide variety of data collection in 15 minute intervals:
- AAT 8830
Wireless Device Controller
- Monitors, measures and remotely controls devices of end-point equipment. Data is updated and reported on EICS every hour. The AAT 8830 Wireless Device Controller uses a half-watt radio.
- AAT 8840
Residential MIU
- An "under the glass" remote monitor that collects
1-hour electric meter data. Several different types of collection modules are designed to fit most industry standard meters available in the market. The AAT 884 Residential MIU uses half-watt radio.
- AAT 8841
Commercial MIU
- An "outside the glass" MIU that collects
commercial meter data in 15 minute intervals. Several different types of collection modules are
designed to fit most industry standard meters available in the
market. The AAT 8841 uses a 2-watt radio.
